The Number 47

The number 47 has been called the quintessential random number.

Buckminster Fuller introduced a class of numbers called Scheherazade numbers, named for a character in One Thousand and One Nights. Mathematicians call these numbers "prime-factorial" or "primordial" numbers. The number 47 has been called the cosmic random element, the agent of infinite change.
